Optimal bandwidth selection for conditional efficiency measures: A data-driven approach
In productivity analysis an important issue is to detect how external (environmental) factors, exogenous to the production process and not under the control of the producer, might influence the production process and the resulting efficiency of the firms. Most of the traditional approaches proposed in the literature have serious drawbacks. An alternative approach is to describe the production p...
متن کاملBootstrap Bandwidth Selection
Various bootstrap methodologies are discussed for the selection of the bandwidth of a kernel density estimator. The smoothed bootstrap is seen to provide new and independent motivation of some previously proposed methods. A curious feature of bootstrapping in this context is that no simulated resampling is required, since the needed functionals of the distribution can be calculated explicitly.
متن کاملBootstrap Bandwidth and Kernel Order Selection for Density Weighted Averages
Abstract: Density weighted average is a nonparametric quantity expressed by expectation of a function of random variables with density weight. It is associated with parametric components of some semiparametric models, and we are concerned with an estimator of this quantity. Asymptotic properties of semiparametric estimators have been studied in econometrics since the end of 1980’s and it is now...
متن کاملFuzzy Efficiency Measures in DEA: A New Approach based on Fuzzy DEA Approach with Double Frontiers
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a method to measure relative efficiency of a set of decision-making units (DMUs) which uses multiple inputs and produces multiple outputs. In the conventional DEA, crisp inputs and outputs are fundamentally necessary. But the observed values of inputs and outputs in real-world problems are sometimes imprecise. Thus, performance measurement often needs to be do...
متن کاملOptimal Bandwidth Selection for Nonparametric Conditional Distribution and Quantile Functions
Li & Racine (2008) consider the nonparametric estimation of conditional cumulative distribution functions (CDF) in the presence of discrete and continuous covariates along with the associated conditional quantile function. However, they did not propose an optimal data-driven method of bandwidth selection and left this important problem as an ‘open question’. In this paper we propose an automati...
